Antonio Fernández Aremany

Director General of the International Triathlon Union (ITU)

The former Director General of Madrid’s 2012 and 2016 bids, Antonio Fernández Arimany, has been appointed to become the Director General of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) from December 1st next, according to the announcement made by the aforesaid body in a press release on Wednesday. Antonio Fernández Arimany used to work as the Head of the ITU Legal, Administrative and Finance Department from 2010, which is why he was in charge of supervising the economic and legal responsibilities of the body presided by the also Spanish Marisol Casado.

Before arriving at the ITU, Arimany worked for Madrid’s bids to the 2012 and 2016 Games together with the managing-directors Feliciano Mayoral and Mercedes Coghen, he was the Director General of Jaca’s bid to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games and the Secretary General of the Spanish Ice Sports Federation (FEDH for its initials in Spanish).
